Community Ambassador Spotlight | Allison Vest
Allison Vest has been a Hive Ambassador since the beginning. Growing up in the Rocky Mountains of Canmore, Alberta, she was always inspired to climb harder and push her limits. She’s the 2018 Canadian Open Bouldering National Champion and has recently been making her way through the World Cup circuit (and placing well!). We’re always so proud of her and love her work ethic and gusto. Her winning personality and jokes always bring a smile to our faces and we’re so lucky to have her on our crew!
What’s your favourite book?
Right now I’m reading Stephen King’s Misery and I’m pretty hooked. Just the right amount of creepy.
What’s your favourite climbing style? Least favourite?
I love jumpy, pully, swingy stuff on goodish holds and techy awkward vertical stuff
Least favourite? Close – mid range compression (unsurprisingly it’s my least favourite cause I’m bad at it)
Where is the most interesting place you’ve ever climbed?
There is a very limited amount of conglomerate rock climbing on Salt Spring Island. Definitely interesting. Fun? Maybe not so much. But… unique.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Take things as they come, you don’t have to have it all figured out.
What inspires you and your climbing?
My friends, and fellow competitors inspire me everyday. The Hive community is good for that.
