2025 Youth Bouldering Regionals West

We are excited to announce that, for the very first time, Manitoba will be hosting Western Youth Boulder Regionals! This is an incredible opportunity for the local climbing community, and we can’t wait to welcome some of the country’s best young climbers on our walls.

When: April 26 – 27, 2025

Where: The Hive Winnipeg (Unit 7 – 960 Lorimer Boulevard, Winnipeg MB)

Who:

  • Youth C Athletes (13-14 as of December 31, 2025); participants born in 2011 or 2012

  • Youth B Athletes (15-16 as of December 31, 2025); participants born in 2009 or 2010

  • Youth A Athletes (17-18 as of December 31, 2025); participants born in 2007 or 2008

 

This is the largest event we have ever put on and will involve multiple days of gym closures leading up to and during the competition—we will update our hours as it gets closer.

Volunteers needed!

We’re currently seeking volunteers for Regionals, and we need your support to make this event a success! Climbing, like many sports, is built on the strength of its community, and this event is no exception.

Volunteer roles include:

  • judging

  • check in

  • monitor

Volunteer Details:

  • No climbing experience is necessary 

  • Ages 16+

  • Punch passes will be given (to a maximum of 8)

  • 3 – 5 hour shifts

  • Training will be provided

This friendly format competition on March 1, 2025 is a great way to challenge yourself and your friends while contributing to the Manitoba climbing community. Cash Purse for Open Finals is $900!

CATEGORIES

Register as any of the following categories categories for chances to win sweet swag, wicked prizes and bragging rights:

Youth (ages 10-17)
Beginner (age 18+)
Intermediate (ages 18+)
Advanced* (ages 18+)
Open (ages 16+) 
Masters (ages 40+, all difficulty levels)

*Advanced is a new category for 2025! This category is intended for participants who could compete in open but prefer not to be in finals, as well as the participants who are stronger than intermediate but find the open category a bit challenging.

TUESDAY NIGHT THROWDOWN is back!

TNT is a friendly community competition and fundraiser that is meant to bring people together to try some fun, new climbs.

Read on for more info about this wacky competition!

 

TNT is back! This competition will have 30+ new climbs for all skill levels, including some fun trick climbs that you wouldn’t normally find in the gym. Challenge yourself and your friends to see how many of these funky problems you can climb. Dress up in teams of 3-5 and you could win Best Costume prizes! A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to the Climbing Association of Manitoba.

A Kilter Board Competition Series

Here we go again! The Board Meeting Kilter Competition 2.0 will be running weekly throughout November, with three qualifying events and finals with a cash purse.

Technical meetings will be held 15 minutes prior to the start time – competitors should check in and warm up before then!

Registration

Registration is available in two categories based on self identified ability* (must be 14+ years old).

  • Category A: V7+
  • Category B: V3 – V6

*Grade category is based upon the max grade the competitor can climb on the Kilter Board in approximately 3 attempts.

Registration will be open 1 week prior to each qualifying event. There is a maximum of 10 spots available in each category per qualifying event. If your category is full, you can add yourself to the waitlist in person at the gym or by calling the front desk. There are two ways to qualify for finals (total of 6 per category):

  • 1st place of each qualifying round automatically advances

  • Accumulated points based on qualifying rounds placement

    • You can sign up for as many qualifying events as you want, we’ll take your best two scores.

No refunds, unless injured.

If you register and a conflict comes up later, please let us know! We’ll get more competitors involved from the waitlist.

Cost: $10* plus tax (per qualifying round)

*Non-members will be charged for gym admission upon checking in

Format

Elimination style (similar to HORSE) based on the word CRUX

Climbers will be randomly numbered 1 – 10 within their category.

  • Climber #1 from Category A will select a climb and attempt to complete in one attempt.

    • If Climber #1 is successful in their one attempt, then the remaining climbers must also attempt that climb. Any climber that fails to complete it in one attempt will be given a letter.

    • Once a climber has spelled CRUX, they are eliminated from the game.

  • Category B will follow suit.

  • Once a round of both categories is completed, the Climber #2 from the other category will select their climb and carry on.
