Boulder Provincials Recap
Another Boulder Provincials has come and gone.
Competitors of all ages brought the heat and really gave it everything, making the field stacked in all categories. We’re always so impressed by the athletes and watching them prepare, pull hard, and work through those tough problems is awe-inspiring.
Youth Boulder Provincials
at Project Climbing Cloverdale
Crushers from all corners of the province came and pushed themselves at the Youth Boulder Provincials. This generation of climbers are going to be shattering records in no time!
Our youth team brought out all the guns and Swarm member Nolan Fielding ended up walking away with 1st pace in the Provincial Bouldering Series with his 2nd place finish at the competition. If that wasn’t amazing enough, this was Nolan’s first competitive season, emerging from our youth recreational programs at the Hive North Shore. We’re so proud of how far he’s come in such a short time and we can’t wait to see what comes next!
Check out our friends at SCBC for overall youth rankings.
Open Boulder Provincials + Youth A & Junior
at BoulderHouse Victoria
Everyone brought their A-game to this showdown, and we’re proud to see 7 out of 12 competitors coming from the Hive!
Our very own Hive Ambassador, Allison Vest, was the only woman to top all four Finals problems, leading her to the victory. Vest was followed by Sophie Buitendyk in 2nd and Hive Ambassador, Mika Hosoi, in 3rd.
The men’s Finals was loaded with crushers as well, with JJ Mah and Swarm climber Guy McNamee both topping 3 boulders. JJ snagged the win on zones and Hive staffer Ivan Luo came in 3rd.
In addition to the successful competition, we’re proud and excited to also see our athletes on the podium for the Bouldering Provincials Series. Ambassador Mika Hosoi took 2nd place in Open for the series, while Swarm member Guy McNamee took 1st place. Guy also brought home 1st in Youth A, while teammate Megan Bokenfohr took 3rd in the same category.
Both Project and Boulderhouse put on amazing comps and we are so stoked to have such a great selection of gyms in our extended community! A huge thanks to the event organizers and setting teams at both Youth and Open Boulder Provincials. It’s a lot of work putting one of these comps together so hats off to everyone involved!
Congratulations to all the competitors over the past couple weeks for giving it all you have and blowing us away time after time! We’re looking forward to seeing you throw down at the Canadian National Championships!
